John Company 1830 Set on House of Staunton Board with Jaques Timer |
||||
Here's a nice photo. A John Company set from 1830 situated on a custom-made House of Staunton board, overseen by a Jaques Congress Timer. And not just any old Jaques Congress Timer - it was one of three used during the 1927 Alekhine-Capablanca World Championship Match in Buenos Aires. On the right side, displaced from their normal position on the board, is my earliest Jaques set - an 1849 Jaques club-sized set that came in a box hand-signed by Howard Staunton, and hand-numbered "#9". It doesn't get much better than this! |
