An ivory chess set, England, probably Fleet Street, London, 19th century, one side stained red, the other side left natural, kings surmounted with Maltese crosses, queens with fleur-de-lys, bishops with open mitres, knights as horses' heads, rooks as turrets, pawns with ball finials, in a wooden box, the king 8.5cm high, the pawn 3.5cm high.
