Rhoads & Sons - Ropetwist Chess Set

A standard (but still attractive) "Ropetwist" or Barleycorn set, but what is unusual is that the set is in a box with "Rhoads & Sons" on the label. I checked my London Directories and found Thomas Rhoads & Sons, merchants located at 1 Vine Street, from 1833 through 1880 (not in the 1828/1829 trade directory or the 1882 post office directory.) So presumably Rhoads & Sons were the retailers but not the manufacturers.
