An English turned ivory set by Calvert, circa 1820. Red stained and natural with a mahogany box stamped "Calvert 189 Fleet St" and with applied paper label "D. Calvert, widow of the late J Calvert...". Kings 10.8 cm. The set comes with a board that appears to be contemporary with the set.

John Calvert was an ivory turner at 189 Fleet Street from 1791 through his death in 1822. After his death, his widow Dorothy Calvert kept the business going at the same address until 1840, when she also passed away.
